Oooh. A wig. That beats my suggestion of hot rollers to help smooth out the cuticle, straighten hair, then put big bouncy ringlets in, and then victory rolls.

With my hair, I can cheat on the victory rolls for social occasions (not ISO). I blow out my waves, flipping up the ends of my hair to look bouncy. Then, I do an off-center part. I pull the Sides back and up and then secure with side combs. I get enough height from my hair, the sides are pulled back, and it looks vintage enough to pass. But I don't know how to do it with curly hair.

There are TONS of videos on YouTube. I am sure you have viewed many, and they all probably have straight or hot-roller hair.
