"There are all shapes even in little kids, so having a variety of shapes of clothes is good and not necessarily a body image thing"

Oh of course! I have a friend that is exclusively shopping at The Gap for her son because he is quite thin and has no bum. Where, I had bad luck there given Mina's build. I'm learning the general qualities per store, and have found what works for us and what doesn't for Mina (same with me: I know where I can reliably find things to fit me and where I can't).

What kills me is that (for example) a girls 3T = a boys 2T. The 'style' for toddler girls is fitted where the style for boys is loose. Even in something as basic as a tee or sweat/stretchy pants. This has seemed to be fairly consistent across brands, with the exception being those Old Navy PJs (since we buy some "girls" and some "boys", and they seem consistent). Regardless of brand, she is a 2T in boys but a 3T in girls. I don't really get it. Though, oftentimes I don't "get" fashion anyway! ;)

I'm trying to be aware of this without making *her* crazy in the process. I have distinct memories of feeling I was the fat girl at school. In Kindergarden. Age 5! I totally wasn't, but even at that young age, somehow, I had that perception. My Mom was very fat/weight/exercise obsessed, but never passed judgements on any of us for our size (I was bigger than average, my sister and brother much thinner than average). Somehow by 5, I was embarressed about my size/clothes whatever. I can only try my best, I just hope I can help Mina feel a bit more positive about herself.
