Monday

God, I was in a crabby mood last night! Some sleep always serves to make me feel better.

It will be a short work week (3 days) and busy nights with running errands and getting things together for DC. I'm looking forward to this being a more casual trip.

Please keep the people in NOLA in your thoughts, they'll have a trying couple of days with the impending storm.

Foodie

So how do you make from scratch tomato sauce?

The reason I used Alton's kind of weird recipie (slice roma tomatoes in half, put cut side down on a pan, bake in oven for 2.5 hrs w/ goodies sprinked over and then mill/mush, add white wine, cook off wine for a bit) was because all of the recipies I could find online called for canned tomatoes. I wasn't sure how to get the tomato out of the tomato, you know? I come from a hamburger helper family, so this stuff is new to me! :)

The things were smelling pretty good last night after an hour but BOY did they get overcooked. Burned tomatoes produce a horrible smell. I even put the hot oregano from our herb garden in there! Ah well. We'll see how the pumpkin soup experiment goes tonight.

I feel like a defective Italian or something. At least I can make good pizelles!

Off to get some things I need for or before Dragoncon . . .

Bwahahaha!

I came home to find the box. The one with the thing I ordered last month. The new costume for Draconcon.

The Sith Cheerleader :)

Yes, its exactly what you think it is. I've even got matching pom poms. There will be around 10 of us give or take.

Its funny how a life of dancing will make adding to a costume like this easy. I had black dance jazz sneakers that I threw some red laces into. Add in some red dance trunks from the 80's that still fit for good measure, and some scrunchies that are black and have red glittery tinsel type material in them (they are actually in my LJ icon right now) and viola! Sith Cheerleader!

When we say Go, you say Sith
Go-Sith Go-Sith
When we say Force, you say Choke
Force-Choke, Force-Choke
When we say Rebel, you say Scum
Rebel-Scum, Rebel-Scum
Go, Sith, Force, Choke, Rebel Scum!

Also to make an appearance this weekend in addition to the regular SW costumes (Scout and Padme Ep I Battle for the Parade) will be the Can Can Dancer (for Friday's Moulin Rouge meetup) and Kilted Trooper Brigade http://photos.imageevent.com/cujo/conventions/celebration3/websize/8030043-R8-017-7.jpg Schoolgirl (basically my KTB babydoll w/ my plaid skirt). I think the White Groupie http://www.tk7602.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=49&pos=5 is going to stay home this time, though I'll probably bring the shirt along.
