Texture
I've been knitting with some yarn that's SO SOFT, I just want to keep touching it.
I got a co-worker inspired to pick up knitting again and she bought some Lion Brand "Velvet Spun" chenille for herself last week. I was inspired to get some myself in another color and try my hand at making my first hat. The plan was that I'd be able to bring it on the plane to CA with me in a couple of weeks (bamboo needles) rather than the scarf I've been doing (steel needles), but at this rate I'll probably be done with it. That's fine - we're sleeping on the plane on the way home and there, I can try and sleep or read (I picked out a few new books last night).
Its texture and color that often make me inspired to create things (first with sewing, now also knitting). Its rare that I think "you know, I really want to make blah" and then make it, but going into JoAnne's to pick up some foam to line an AT-AT helmet causes the eyes to wander at other pretty potential projects. Similarly, seeing a friend in a gorgeous green lush velvet Padme gown this weekend reminded me that I want to try my hand at making one of the more formal SW outfits now that I have a dress form. So many ideas, so little time.
