Foodie

The first recipe from Gram's cookbook was not so good - banana bread. It was dry and didn't really taste like anything. She had a second recipe for the same thing, so I'll give that a try on another day.

We're hosting a local 501st/Rebel Legion costume gathering today. It would be wonderful if someone in the base or garrison could schedule something like this each month to keep us chatting out of armor. My Leia costume needs an overhaul, I keep saying I'm going to make the Ceremonial Leia and I have Tusken Female bracelets that have been waiting forever to be made. I'm just not feeling the costuming love. I'll figure something out or I'll just be social.

We had a lot of fun at King's in Dedham last night. The food was much better than I expected and we had a good time hanging out with the bowlers (I'm a candlepin girl myself). The music was LOUD, and progressed from 80s New Wave to 90s Pop to today's top 40 pop or hip hop as the night progressed. Weird, maybe they thought the older folks would be leaving earlier and changed the music accordingly? They could really use a dance floor, as looking around the place people were dancing at their tables, at their lanes and at the bar. I keep saying I want to find a place for the ladies to go dancing, but the places I used to go are gone and the ones I'm aware of now aren't for dancing or cater to a younger, meat market kind of crowd. Any ideas? Oh Man Ray, how I miss you.

Happy 2011!
