That sounds like the kind of book I'm looking to read, actually. I've found my way of "paring down" things just isn't very satisfactory. Generally when I move (which has been quite a bit here recently) I chuck things that I decide I no longer need. More to the point, its things that I don't really feel like finding the space for and instead I let them go and feel like I shouldn't have. Now I've run into a point where I'm like "gee...now I really do have to replace that" or "that was completely irreplacable, why did I keep this piece of junk instead?"
