Hump Day
I love holiday weeks - its already Wednesday!
Last night's dance class was a good one. I've found lately that I'm getting more out of classes exercise-wise, and I can't figure out if its because they are working us more, or if I'm just putting more effort in (I think probably the latter). Either way, that's one cardio workout out of the way for this week's Self Challenge. Related, I've found that I naturally eat between 1600 and 1800 calories a day anyway. What puts me at the higher end would be more than one splurge (like, having a cup of hot cocoa last night after dance class left me within the 1600 range, but if I had some cookies at work, a huge dinner *and* cocoa, I'd sure be way over the 1800 mark). It makes sense that I haven't lost weight I've gained, but haven't gained anymore, since I am basically eating what it takes my body to survive (and given I'm pretty active, my regular level of activity isn't enough to tip the caloric balance - similarly it takes a lot to get my heart rate up). We shall see how the next month goes!
Related, I'm making this http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/recipe_views/views/104055 tonight to go with shake+bake chicken and some leftover garlic mashed potatoes we have in the fridge. We picked up a steak last week and while Brian was at the meat counter I grabbed some red bliss potatoes and a huge bag of carrots nearby. I figured, the buns would love the carrots (which they did, last night - God they are so cute when they are all snuggled up together and cleaning each other) and it would be fun to make them for dinner again. I had this great recipe that I was unable to find using a tiny bit of butter and a lot of herbs, so I'll try this one instead and I'll let you know how it comes out!
Phear my exciting (not) life! Actually, I'm writing this more for documenting the progress in the challenge, more than anything.
