Weekend

It was a nice, chill weekend. I spent a good deal of the time on the couch trying to get healthy (darned allergies + cold) but we did get out to see friends and family, so its all good.

I decided to watch the ballet class rather than irritate my asthma, so I sat and controlled music while taking notes of our new steps. I was leaning on http://www.biblio.com/details.php?dcx=66827334&aid=frg for my writing. This book has since lost its jacket, but I remember years of Miss Peggy holding it during our Musical Comedy classes. She'd choose exercises for us to do or passages for us to read from. Its weird using a book that's older than you as a lap desk of sorts. It used to be housed between ceramic top hat bookends (like a top hat split vertically, with each half holding up this single book). It now sits unceremoniously on the teacher's desk, and I wonder how many people are aware of its history? I briefly pondered ordering one, but I know I'll never use it for anything. I have my memories, and finding this picture was a neat treat (I had forgotten what the dust jacket looked like).

Brian and I watched http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/acrosstheuniverse/ last night. It was much like a more trippy version of a Baz Luhrmann movie, and I loved it! I love musicals, The Beatles and movies set in the 60s with the backdrop of everything that was going on at the time. I don't think I'll be buying it on DVD, but it was worth the $5 to see it on demand (who knows when we'd get around to requesting it from Netflix).

I'm hoping to get all of the productive stuff done for our trip tonight so that I can just focus on dance class and relaxation on Tuesday. Having a few days in the city with no responsibilities will be heavenly. We're finally going to the Natural History Museum and the Museum of Sex. Here's hoping the weather is good, because what I most enjoy is walking around and exploring neighborhoods.
