River Street

My Mom gave me an old "Promise Ring" that she received from my Dad as a teenager. I dropped it off to be re-sized yesterday, and found a random teddy bear in a tree in the parking lot.

What is the promise ring; what type of metal/stones/etc? Very nice that she gave it to you! :)

A promise ring is a kind of 'going steady' or pre-engagement thing. I guess in the 50s it would have been a class ring of the guy worn by the woman? They were dating in high school and married in 72 (graduated in 70 and 71). It's white gold with a blue star sapphire. I've always admired it, and through the process of moving my Mom and Dad have been giving things away. It makes it easier that my sister is into all of the yellow-gold and diamonds stuff and I'm into the white gold and other stones. Once it's resized and I have it back, I'll take a picture of it.

oh I know what a promise ring is, I was just asking what this particular one was. Sounds beautiful! :)
