Symbolism

It was nice to throw out "Crazy Bobby's" refrigerator and washing machine last night. There was SO much trash to drag around to the front of the house.

I also took off the pantry closet door and took out all of the shelves and swept it out - we've decided to just cut a hole in the back of the closet for a dryer vent and move the dryer upstairs next to the washing machine (when we do the kitchen in the fall we'll re-arrange things to be more ergonomic and roomy back there). I pulled off a piece of plywood from the back of the closet to see what was behind it (that closet used to be the back door of the house before the den addition was added) and there were the HUGE remains of an old smelly bee-hive. It appears to be dead but for the time being we promptly screwed back the plywood over it so as not to disturb any possibly remaining bees. When the time comes for the kitchen remodel we'll need to pull it and all the other crap in the wall out to nicely finish it with drywall.

Such excitement, the guys were plastering the living room last night and it may be ready for paint by at the end of the weekend (whee)! I need to get cracking on stripping the paint on the mantle and calling someone to check out our fireplace and chimney to see if they would be safe to use :)

That's nasty.
I can't believe that guy never did any damn thing to that house.
But it's going to be SO be-you-ti-ful when you're done.
What're you painting the walls in the living room? A color or a white?
Let me know if you want any help over the weekend. Making a paint mess might be fun *grin*
You and B should come to MR tonight *tempts you* It's FREE!

We're thinking darker colors in the living room and dining room (burgandy in the living room, a deep blue in the dining room) and I've picked out a nice green which matches our plates for the kitchen. The den is going to be a pinkish-purple color (if you've seen pictures from Griffin Grove Inn its like the color they have in their dining room). I'm thinking hallways will be light and our bedroom is going to be a lighter green/gray color (B actually picked out, it matches our comforter). We haven't figured out the bathrooms, craft room or computer room yet.

Its apparent how much silly stuff went on in that house the more we dig in and do work on it!

As far as MR tonight, I'd love to go but since i'm just now finally getting my normal voice back and B's fighting the start of a cold I think we'll be staying in. I'm going to try and drag him out somewhere this weekend, though :)

Wheeee!

Feline and I (and I'm not sure who else) are trying to go to a Powwow on the cape this weekend. But it's VERY HOT, it's outside with very little shade. We're planning on Sunday but I'm going to email her about possibly Friday. Lots of dancing and Native stuff, and FOOD! (Me *heart* food *grin*) It's very near where I work in Mashpee, about an hour's drive from the 3/93 split, given good traffic.

The colors sound neat, not just plain white like my mother likes. I'm seriously considering a yellow for my room, but not just yet.

I'll be out of town for most of the weekend, but if you're still painting next weekend and need help, lemme know.

I can also lend you guys painting supplies once I figure out where the heck they all are. I've got miscellaneous brushes, rollers, and maybe a paint stick that I'm not planning on using again for another month or two.

Whee

I think we're going to prime this weekend and wait on the color until later (too much mess and too many things to move around from room to room for a while). So perhaps next weekend we'll be attacking the painting hardcore (I'll let you know) :)

As far as supplies I think we're all set. B picked up some nice Wagner rollers and brushes for cutting in :)
