20 weeks

There was a mixup with my appointment today. It was scheduled for 2:40 PM but my midwife wasn't actually in the office at that time. They called this morning to get me in another slot with another midwife.

Townie! She's from Waltham and knew my Gram Demi from the Sons of Italy and Sacred Heart. She used to dance at the Peggy McGlone Studio as did her daughters. Very nice lady! Any of the studio folks know her? http://www.harvardvanguard.org/phys/phys3.asp?passID=2643

As expected my weight gain is too much. If I keep going the rate I'm going (gaining 6 pounds every month) I will be huge at the end. It would make it more difficult for me to deliver, be potentially harmful to the babe, and more work to get the weight off after. None of these are things that I want. I know what I have to do - more water/veggies/exercise. Again, they didn't scold me about it but when I asked they acknowledged that the rate I'm going at should not continue. She told me it seems I'm a 'smart girl and you know what you gotta do'. She suggested that I may want to keep a food diary of sorts if I'm concerned about my eating, though I'm not sure if I want to go that nuts at this juncture. I know it is totally a portion control issue, and not eating enough veggies. I don't eat a lot of junk, but I think I eat too much of what it is I'm eating.

Other than that, everything is looking good. The back and forth to the office wasn't fun (so inefficient - Waltham to Woburn to Wellesley to Woburn and back to Waltham today), but I'm glad to be back here for the afternoon.

You might be OK. I gained a lot in the first trimester and slowed down a lot at the end, only gaining 35 lbs overall (with an additional 5 gained in the month before when I was on Clomid). I think that the fertility drugs make this happen. Don't worry - just eat healthy, exercise to the level that feels right for you.
