Letdown

Is just fascinating to me (please note: there is talk of bewbs and lactation in this link):

I'm still on that train of "should I keep trying my best" and "should I start to try and back off bit by bit on the breastfeeding. In my head off in the distance is our trip to FL for Celebration VI, where Mina will most likely not be going with us. Hrm.

She is starting to seemingly pay attention to food, which means that more solid things will be coming. I'm debating between the traditional 'spoon feed the mushy stuff' and the baby-lead weaning approach. Maybe a bit of both? Or would that be confusing? http://www.babyledweaning.com/

FWIW long long ago, when Chiquita was that small, we used a bit both. I think she will let you know her preference. Re: the mushy stuff, my mom really just liked feeding Chiquita I think. I didn't care either way as long as what she was eating was not sweetened. Personalities are going to be huge here, but Chiquita just tended to try to take the spoon herself when spoon-feeding. And if I was eating something, it was absolutely the most fascinating thing ever that she *had* to have as well. (Ah the mommy diet, you never get to finish a meal by yourself.)

I think there is nothing wrong with you doing both. Feeding herself will not only let her explore her world, but it will give her good fine motor skills. You feeding her mushy stuff, ensures that when you are introducing new flavors that it is easy for her to try. She could absolutely try those by tasting things on her own, but especially when she has few teeth it gives her a few more options.
