Bats!

My co-worker has a desk calender by Dave Barry (I'm not really sure who this guy is, but he's really funny).

She came by and gave me the page from today since she knew that I liked bats:

"There has never been a TV series where the animal hero was a bat. Why not? Why couldn't Lassie have been a bat? There could have been an episode wherein Lassie and her young master, Timmy, are frolicking around the farm, with Lassie playfully catching insects for Timmy via sonar, when suddenly Timmy is caught in the quicksand! So Lassie flits as fast as she can back to the farmhouse, where she squeaks and hurls her tiny self against the screen door until Timmy's family, realizing that something is wrong, comes running outside and kills Lassie with a rake, because people generally hate bats. Plus they are getting sick and tired of Timmy falling into the quicksand every other week."

Do vampire characters on TV count? What about Batman?

I did some searching to find out who Dave Barry was and found this link (and others). I just wasn't sure if it was the same Dave Barry :)

I saw this (http://www.restorationhardware.com/page.jhtml?type=product&categoryId=cat190005&id=prod210018) and thought of you. "Bat Doormat -Nothing screams All Hallow's Eve like a flat bat at your door. No trick-or-treater will be able to resist wiping their muddy feet (or paws, or tentacles) on it, and that'll save your floors from a frightful mess. Made from natural, durable coir. 20"W x 29"L. Price: $16.95 "

That is so cute!

Too bad we already have a doormat (actually, the old one we had in our apartment had a bat on it - the thing was so beat up after 3 years that we threw it away when we moved) .

There can never be too much bat stuff :)

Batfink !
