Aw, man!

Now I wish I went to see them last Sunday (Metallica):

Well, it's good to hear, but how much do you trust the globe to report on a good metal performance? :)

its not the globe

its the Boston Phoenix (I know you don't like them, but generally I tend to have similar musical opinions to them).

I don't, but I do trust Michelle, though she likes that nu-metal garbage a bit too much. This report actually matches what she told me.

So much so that I am seriously considering going to see them in MD.

the new radio cut
is one of the worst songs i've ever heard.

the way they treated Jason from day one
was unforgive(n)able.

i swear sometimes,
Cliff was the only real genius in that band.

at least they seem to know Load and Re-load sucked ass.

Yup!

"the new radio cut

I espescially can't stand St. Anger (the song). A musician friend of mine whose opinion on things I usually respect HATED the new album at first but now things its "brilliant" and really likes it. So I'm willing to steal a copy of the thing (i.e. getting a burned copy) so that I can give it a chance. If I like it, I'll give them the cash :)

Yeah, at least they acknowledge that they did this now (did you see the Icon show that was on MTV? They dedicate a portion of it to this).

He was amazing, RIP Cliff

"at least they seem to know Load and Re-load sucked ass."

I'm curious why it took so long for them to figure this out. Geez!

Hold on, pre 91 means that they played a lot of the black album, which isn't that different from the shows I saw post reload. The load/reload stuff doesn't translate nearly as poorly live as it does on record, and they always play a decent number of classic -- the black disc may have been thier career high point, so it makes sense to focus on that.

I wonder if there is a set list around...

Set list

The review lists a good amount of songs - not sure if it would take up a 2 hour set though.

When we saw them at the 1st Sanitarium tour they played a good deal of music that was pre the black album (though they still played a few from the black album).

Its really hard for me to pick out a favorite - I like different things from all albums. But after the Black Album and its supporting tours, for all sakes and purposes there was no more Metallica to me :)
