Decisions

I really want to sign up for bellydancing again.

But I really also want to be sane with school.

I have class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bellydancing would be on Mondays. Usually we go to netgoth coffee on Thursdays. That would mean I'd have no night at all where I could stay completely at home to work on school stuff. Ugh.

I could go home after work, do homework and then head to bellydancing. I could also just find a library, do homework, and then head to bellydancing. But those long days were really tough when I was doing them before. I'd get out of work at 4:00 and find something to do (usually meet up with friends or family in Waltham) until about 7:15 or 7:30 when I'd head into Cambridge for class. Then I'd get home at 10:00, get stuff ready for the next day, and fall into bed.

Logically I think I shouldn't take this class. But I know how important dancing is to me. Last semester I was only taking 1 class at Umass Boston so adding in the Bellydancing wasn't a big deal.

Hrm. What would *you* do?

I think you should take the class. Goffee isn't an obligation, and I think you're looking at it like one. ;) I know you want to be social, but skipping it occasionally is ok, too.

What's the travel time between work and bellydancing? Does it make sense to go all the way home in between?

Wait wait wait...what about Wednesday?

Are you sure the class is Mondays? I am going to be taking a few private lessons with Karen and she said that the beginner class will be Tuesdays 7:45-9:00 this fall -- which contradicts the (old?) information on the troupe website... so who knows if any of the information there is up-to-date.

Tuesdays being perfect for ME, since Monday was a major pain since I had to head to work afterwards to take care of end-of-day business. :)

Tuesday would be perfect for me, I was hoping it would be one of my Umass nights . . . I get out of class at Umass at 6:30 and could just head into Central from there.

I'll have to call them (or if you talk to Karen, could you ask if the website is correct)? They had also mentioned offering intermediate classes but those aren't on the website either. Hrm.

I think you are right, Jessica. I just got this from Anita-Christina.

Hi Shannon ,
Classes begin the Monday after Labor Day, which is Sept 8th.
PLEASE NOTE new times for classes are: Advanced Beginner Mondays 6:30-7:45, Intermediate Mondays 8pm - 9:15. Beginners are now on Tuesdays 7:45-900.
See you soon,
travel safe and enjoy!
Anita-Cristina

Unfortunately it starts the week before I get back, and the day I fly in, jet lag and all, is the 2nd class. But it's worth it.

"I think you are right, Jessica. I just got this from Anita-Christina."

Shannon, thanks for the info!

I'm nuts, but I'll probably sign up. Perhaps I'll just lock myself in a library for homework every Monday after work and then head to dancing.

I'll possibly miss the first class too . . . I'll be flying back from Atlanta on that day.

Here's a thought.....

For myself, I have quite a few time constraints as well, so I highly recommend Belly Dance DVD's (http://www.corgibuddy.com/learnbellydance.html). You know how I feel about belly dancing (http://www.corgibuddy.com/bellydancing.html), and I definitely would miss it if I had to give it up completely from my schedule, but the best way to fit it in sometimes is just via those DVD's.

Here where I live locally as well, it's sometimes possible to just jump in on sessions periodically (although I think this only works for me, since I am a yoga intstuctor part time, and make trades with other instructors for dance time). *grin*

Whatever you don't....don't give up....you sound so much like me, where things like that really do add a lot to your life. It's a great form of self-expression. :)

See my belly dancing story here: Belly Dancing (http://www.corgibuddy.com/bellydancing.html)

I think you should do it because you feel much better about yourself and your world when you dance or get other exercise. and you sound like you need that.

What about arranging to practice a DVD or just do your own dancing with friends at your convenience?
