Music

Here's an article from today's Phoenix discussing how the more recent music trends of 'rap/rock' type stuff is dying out in favor of more 70's/80's style metal - its "Out with the New, In with the Old": http://www.bostonphoenix.com/boston/music/top/documents/03281736.asp

Thoughts? Do you think this trend will continue? I can honestly say I'm loving it! :)

anything that removes rap/metal from the airwaves I like. Heck I've even started listen to fnx again

fnx is starting to play decent music again?

I honestly haven't listed to much except NPR in the car for the past three years now.

I am very glad. There is a legion of excellent bands (a lot of them are from here) waiting to emerge as soon as the soullless, derivative, unimaginative corpus of the Limp-Korn-Staind-Deftones-Head(P.E) trend finally rots away. People who can actually play their instruments and have something to say.

Now if we could only do away with the pretend metal creed-puddle-of-mud-godsmack-saliva trend...

May Kid Rock be long forgotten.

I kinda liked kid rock.

Then he turned into a metallica sampler.

...not unlike Metallica, themselves.

Unforgiven II, anyone?

Metallica released a CD after the black album?

I think their lawyers put on wigs and did it for them.

Oh, sorry, that was the "Alternative hair and make-up" period. No wigs.

Spandex and assless leather pants are not things to aspire to.

Has the fact that DLR has resorted to getting arrested for buying dime bags of pot in Times Square for publicity shown us nothing?

[identity profile] lachesis.livejournal.com 2003-10-30 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, really.

I mean, who gets actually *arrested* for DIME bags, these days? :)

assless leather pants

heh, that got your attention ;)

"I mean, who gets actually *arrested* for DIME bags, these days? :)"

Not Scott Weiland, he gets arrested for drunk driving and a car accident on his birthday, just when he was getting good remarks from the probation officer on his being "clean".

How is it that man manages to stay alive? Its such a shame, because he's got such an amazing voice (and so few do nowadays!).
