Quote of the Day:

"We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap into the darkness to our success." - Henry David Thoreau

****

Not only did I make a neat dinner last night (used a recipe for a carrot dish from the most recent http://www.penzeys.com/ catalog), I finished my homework for next Monday's class, painted my nails *and* had a nice long chat with my brother.

Somebody stop me! (heh, I want to get "The Mask" on DVD) :)

Today will be a loooong day. I guess one good thing about a 7:00 class is that I'll have time reserved between work and class to get homework done. The unfortunate thing is that at the moment (until the new swanky student center opens), there aren't really any comfy places to sit and do homework. In the meantime I'll sit bolt-upright in a little cubicle on the 5th floor of the library and look out at Boston Harbor.

thanks for the reference!

While we were in Minneapolis I remember seeing Penzey's spices somewhere, and I always wanted to order some of their spices. I just put in my catalog request and an order for some spices! Woot!

:)

If you like to bake, try the Double Strength Vanilla. It's heaven in a bottle.

Oh, and I also highly recommend the Pumpkin Pie Spice.

I found out about them from friends - we're just starting to experiment with things now.

From what we've ordered so far we're happy. The quality and strength of the spices is SO much nicer than what you'd find in the supermarket :)

Thanks for the offer! I think we're all set for now though. :)

Secret hiding places

I recomend the student center on the 3rd floor of the McCormack Building...down the hall from the entrance to the cafeteria (if it is still there). Nice comfy couches, sunshine (when its out) and an atmosphere that you can actually get stuff done.

And I won't need to listen to undergrads talk about how their professors are so UNFAIR because they ask them to do work? ;)

I'll definitely check it out, thanks for the info! Being a part-time grad student I never got any kind of orientation (and also, I started in the Spring Semester so I was already in the middle of a class). I have no clue what's around UMB. Simmons was small enough that you couldn't help to find neat places to chill (and they also had a really active orientation committee, in either semester).

You know, by the time this new student center opens I'll be almost done with the program! Heh :)

PS, Waltham is playing on 2/6 at Bill's Bar and Brian and I are planning on going, want to join us?
