Progress

The red surcoat is coming along. I didn't spend as much time on them yesterday (I was hoping to finish both, but its moving slower than I expected, and we spent less time crafting than planned) but I should be done by the end of this week. Its a good thing too - we leave for DC a week from Thursday. Whee!

We picked up additional luggage at Building 19 yesterday so we now have a real set. Unfortunately we can't take up Tiamatlady on her offer to drive us to Logan next week because our stuff (*cough*, Brian's stuff) won't fit in her car. Ah well - Logan Express served us well before, they will serve us well again. My Mara Jade outfit should be shipped soon, so I'll have just enough time to get the leather bits altered. After DC I'll join the 501st (because I don't think there will be time to process it all before then). Its OK, I couldn't wear the Mara in the parade anyway, since she's not a movie cannon character (and I'm going to wear the Padme battle outfit there).

I forgot my umbrella today. I guess that's what 6 hours of sleep after seeing Alien VS Predator will get me. I like the Boston Common Loews, but think that $10.25 for a movie and $10.00 for parking is silly. Methinks I'll be sticking to the burbs from now on (I'm not *that* picky about seating or sound) :). If you do really like the Predator movie, if you buy the Predator I DVD there is a coupon to see AVP for free - definitely take advantage of it (though beware: you can't use it at an AMC theater).

Loews Common is nice, but parking is an expensive problem, and it's rare we don't either see a matinee or have some sort of discount before going there. I hated it there at first because of a really bad first experiance. But after a couple years of boycott we've returned ... it's much easier to deal if walking or doing the T.

AMC Fenway has as good theatres and a much better parking situation.

You ever venture to the cinema in Randolph?

Randolph is the BEST. Ty and I used to go there whenever we'd see a movie when I was living on the south shore. I still think it's even worth the ride out from Cambridge: the stadium seating, the anything-you-could-possibly-want snack stands, the sound...simply a great movie-going experience.

"You ever venture to the cinema in Randolph?"

Nope, the AMC in Framingham is newer, and has the same seating, sound and food (its only 1/2 hour ride rather than the hour or so it would be to Randolph). We didn't go out to Framingham for AVP, since our coupon for the free movie wasn't good there. They also have a premium theater, with free soda, free popcorn, reserved seating (cushy arm chairs), a coat check and a restaurant . . . you pay more, but it costs the same as if one is planning on getting a drink and popcorn anyway. :)

It's so handy to the T, I can't imagine why anyone would drive!

Uh, the Boston Common Loews, I mean.

"It's so handy to the T, I can't imagine why anyone would drive!"

Because its cheaper and faster to drive from the burbs? It would take me $3 to park, $2 to t-in (from Riverside), and it would make going to a late movie difficult since the T stops running at some point.

I like the T, but only for certain purposes i.e. when I can't find free parking :)

Luggage

[personal profile] tiamatlady 2004-08-16 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
You sure about that? My rear seats flip down, and we can sit the hubby in the back. I would have cleaned out the entire trunk. The only cause for concern is my CD player, which is usually the major issue, luggage wise.

You want to give it a shot? or is it just a no go? I can come over for a dry run. Either way, you still need to get to the Logan Express. Maybe you can go from Braintree, and park at my place while I'm at yours? B can take the truck.

We have some time to dry run. I'm trying to take it easy this week, so I'd have time to shoot over whenever you guys have an evening free, just let me know.

Well, his big suitcase doesn't fit in my trunk - its too thick (so flipping seats down doesn't help because it can't even get into the trunk). Height wise it comes up almost to my waist. Its about 2 feet thick. Sitting in my backseat - it takes up the whole thing if its down on its side. Then we'll have 2 other suitcases (1 for him, one for me), a couple of bags, and will need to fit us too. I know the sedans are larger than the coupes but are they that much larger? The huge suitcase won't even fit in 1 of my back seats because its too tall . . .

"Either way, you still need to get to the Logan Express."

Right. Last year we drove, left the car, and paid to park there (much cheaper than logan). Dropping us at Logan Express wouldn't work, since the luggage won't fit (if you were able to drop us at Logan Express, it would just make more sense for you to drive us to Logan) :)

We may ask my Dad if he could drop us to Logan Express (since I know the luggage will fit in his van). Logan Express is totally out of the way (in Framingham or Woburn) but my Dad isn't nuts about driving into Logan.

Well, we'll be home tonight, tomorrow (though I think my brother is coming over) and Wednesday. Thursday we'll be at Prince :)

It might fit standing up, slid through from the trunk into the seating space. No my sedan isn't that much larger trunkspace wise, but it might be vertically.

I was thinking you could drive to the Braintree Logan express in B's truck, then B and I take it over to my house to park (for free) and I drive him back. Then when you guys come back we reverse it. That's a bit more complicated than just driving you to Logan *grins* or having someone with a bigger car do it. Worst case, if dad can't. you could consider asking Ashton - he has that huge van.

Let me come over and we'll give it a shot. if it doesn't work, or it's too close (empty bags versus full of armor) you can explore other possibles. I'll poke you later tonight, this would be the only night I'd be able to do it. Should be out of work by 6ish - if I ever get there *grins*

Well, we could try. Its too thick to fit in my trunk (so I wasn't able to flip the seat down, and slide it through the trunk into the seating space). It really is quite the excessive "suitcase". He's going to have to pay more to send it on the plane, because it exceeds size requirements for checked luggage.

Our plane is pretty early - 9:00 or so. So we'd need to leave the house pretty early to get to Braintree and do car shifting. In Brian's truck, we'd probably spend the same in gas to Braintree and back that we'd spend parking at Logan Express (around $30). We also woudln't have to get you out of bed early. ;)

Well, I'll be home at around 5:00. I won't be checking e-mail after 4:00 so if you're going to do any poking do it via e-mail before that (or, just call after then) :). We will be home because I've got sewing to do . . . so feel free to just show up too :)

I meant via phone *grins*
I dunno WHEN I'm getting anywhere, I just got off the phone with a different client who is being a PITA.
But that's another story.....
