Thud
Dimebag Darrel is dead.
David Brudnoy is dying.
I spent 4 hours on my paper last night - my brain is pretty dead.
At least we have our campus holiday luncheon today. Tonight I'll do some Xmas Shopping, head home, pick up Brian, and head to T+Ns to drop off our Toys for the Tots.
A homecooked meal and some conversation with friends (and friends later, at goffee) is what I need right now. And I AM taking that class on Monday if there is space available (I have to wait until 10:00 to call the store). I have all day Saturday and part of Sunday, I know I can do this.
If I finish before Stitch and Bitch on Sunday I'm bringing some costuming and KNITTING to work on. That's right, I'm finally going to learn how to knit.

Have you seen many burlesque shows in the area? It seems there's a lot more than one would guess offhand. The Pontoni Sisters, Through the Keyhole, Black Cat, Suicide Girls... I'll be trying to make it to performances when I have some time, I was wondering if you had an opinion of any of them.

I've seen all of the above (including BRA, the Burleque Revival - that group broke up when some members moved to CA and the remaining members turned into Through the Keyhole). And Dita too (obviously).
I loved the Pontoni Sisters and wish they'd come to Boston again. Through the Keyhole has got to be my local favorite, they seem more fun and more traditional burlesque. Unfortunately though, the lost their weeky Sunday night gig, and I haven't heard much of them since then. I've seen Black Cat once and wasn't too impressed (but again, it was only once and wasn't a full show - just a Man Ray performance). The Suicide Girls - I totally wasn't impressed with them. There was only 1 person that did a true classic Burlesque number (the rest were just modern-day strippers with freaky clothes and piercings, though this was at the Middle East, so they didn't totally strip).
I've been thinking of trying to get involved with a local burlesque group (maybe) now that I have time again and could work on developing a routine. I love the music, am crafty with costuming and have a lot of related dance experience. There needs to be a tap-dancing burlesque performance! Think of the bouncing boobs! ;)
