Friday

Its almost the weekend, finally. This week was a killer for some reason (though, I'm sure the snow and miscommunication at work has something to do with it).

We skipped goffee last night. I've been stuffy lately and need to take care of myself so it doesn't develop into a cold. Brian and I hadn't spent any time together in a bit due to other things going on. Basically, I just needed some "me" and some "us" time in a bad way. I also got some more knitting done. I'm working on my 3rd stripe on the Slytherin scarf (whoot)!

Musical selections for today:
Prince, Rave Onto the Joy Fantastic
Kiss, Double Platinum
Snake River Conspiracy, Sonic Jihad
Megadeth, The System Has Failed
TLC, Oooh on the TLC Tip
Cirque Du Soleil (I meant for Quidam, but grabbed Alegria by accident)
"Bad Boy Ballads", an old impulse buy from Stop and Shop (featuring Poison, Night Ranger, Rainbow, Whitesnake, The Scorpions, Cinderella, Extreme, Giant, LA Guns, Ugly Kid Joe, Sheriff and Nazareth)

LOL! I LOVE that when you do up these lists you always have some serious metal, then some Price, and then something totally off the wall like Britney Spears or TLC. Too cute. I'm the same way. Lately my lineup at work has consisted of HIM, Third Eye Blind and Chicago (the band).

I haven't heard HIM yet, though I imagine I'd like them. I grew up listening to Chicago with my dad, so I really love them. Lately, I've been craving Journey (I have a cassette that I copied off of a friend god, 15 years ago, with Journey's greatest hits - I need to get it on CD).

davis was a mess last night. while waiting for a bus or cab ('twas brutal waiting for either!), i saw several cars towed.

there was no parking there on the street last night! they had them all marked no parking and were towing cars even at meters. apparently they were trying to make a dent in the snow and were bringing in the backloaders to work overnight.

"there was no parking there on the street last night!"

That's what I figured. Do they allow parking in the municipal lots during snow emergencies (say, the one on Day Street)? I'm just curious for future reference :). That's how Waltham handles it all in a snow emergency - no street parking but city lots/garages are OK. Granted, its tough to get a spot in there, but its an option :)

well, actually, they had lifted the snow emergency by 5pm yesterday. this no parking situation was street specific and temporary.

the somerville website has snow emergency parking locations. i'm not sure what the specifics are for that area. (it might also list it in the davis_square community, but i'm not sure.)

in general, there is street parking on the odd side of the streets unless otherwise posted. this year they also designated several lots - school, church, municipal - as snow emergency lots, but you have to get your car out of them 2 hours after the end of an emergency.
