Spring

Its feeling almost like spring today. Its cool out but not as cold as its been. My pregnant and uncomfortably warm co-worker opened a nearby window and the breeze feels nice for the first time in a while. The sun has moved out from behind a cloud for the moment.

Spring makes me think of driving with the windows down, feeding the ducks, talks on the front porch, working on finals while sitting in a coffee shop with my love, and getting excited about summer (walking in the sand, swimming, hiking, faire, cook-outs, drive-ins, watermelon, the hammock).

What does spring mean to you?

I'm going to plant things in the ground this year. In year's past I've been busy writing a thesis, or busy shopping for a new house, or not wanting to invest the time and money into a place we'd be leaving in a year or so. This year, I'm literally laying down roots. In addition to trip planning I'll want to keep this in my mind over the next month so that when the frost is gone I'll be ready!

I saw them too, at the MFA! I think they might be daffodils, but I'm just happy to see green growing things.

Plan on planting some more irises and morning glories, myself.

I'm pretty sure these are snowdrops, although even though I'm the one who planted them I'm not sure: I ordered five types of bulbs to bloom throughout the spring and instead of keeping track of what I planted where, I tossed them in the air and planted each bulb where it landed. :)

I ordered a billion types of flower seed this year. There's some red morning glory in there, can't wait to see what they end up looking like. :)
