Wow

I've been reading the Tori Amos book http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/076791676X/002-3240616-1335217 during my lunch break at work mostly. Its been primarily about her creative process, but during that she writes about her family, training, relationships, and career progression.

She's very frank. I just got through a large portion of the motherhood chapter, in which she describes the experience of having 3 miscarriages before finally conceiving and having her lovely daughter Natashya. Its so raw, I almost started crying at my desk.

I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for creative inspiration or just interested in Tori or her songs. Be warned though, there are some tough subjects breached in this book.

Wow.
Didn't realize it was three miscarriages, thought it was only one (but I was guessing from the song "Playboy Mommy").

I've already got it on my list of books to get since you first mentioned it, but talking about the creative process means it will be helpful as well as interesting.

"Wow. Didn't realize it was three miscarriages, thought it was only one (but I was guessing from the song "Playboy Mommy")."

Also in 'Spark':
"she's convinced she could hold back a glacier
but she couldn't keep Baby alive
doubting if there's a woman in there somewhere"

The first was in 1999, the last in 1996 apparently. Her daughter was born in 2000.

Ah yes... I remember that, too.

What did she name her again? Natasha...and something from LotR? That has got to be one interesting little girl...

Its Natashya Lorien (short for Lothlorien, from LotR). There are some really cute pictures of her and Mom in the book. :)
