Dragoncon

Brian and I have secured our hotel room for http://www.dragoncon.org/ (we'll be sharing with Ashton) and have registered. It looks like Joss Whedon will be there this year!

We'll be taking the minimalist route in terms of costuming. Dressing up is cool, taking 200 lbs of luggage is not! :)

I have this rule that I'm never allowed to travel with more than half my body weight. Usually I can only pull this off if I travel with just a carry on. Last summer, going around China, I definitely had way more luggage than person on me.

Its tough to do that as a costumer, particulary one with armor. Last year Brian brought his regular clothes, stormtrooper armor (which fills one whole suitcase), Lord of the Rings costume (including chainmail i.e. heavy) and a few other Star Wars things. This year he's going for lighter costumes that are easier to transport :)

My issues is shoes - with different outfits for costumes I need various boots and shoes. I've got time to figure out something smart though! :)

ooh, say hi to Joss! :-)

btw I saw Anita Christina performing yesterday at Morocco's hafli, she did an excellent performance. The second song she did was an electronic Indian fusion piece, and she created some great silhouettes against bright light coming in through the windows behind the stage area. Don't know if she did that on purpose or not, but it looked amazing!

When I see her next, I'll mention the silhouettes and let her know you enjoyed it :)

One of these days I'll get myself to a Hafli . . .

We always stick to the Mariott - the Hyatt is just to nuts for us to stay in all of the time :)
