If you come to my house, park in the street (not halfway on the sidewalk as we always have).

The cops went up and down the street last night and ticketed people for $15 for parking on the sidewalk. My poor brother got stuck with one (as did the guy next-door, who has lived in that house forever and apparently must have never had an issue with it before, since that's where he always parks).

Parking is allowed there overnight unless there is a snow emergency, so have no worries about your car being towed :). Maybe they are enforcing it now to make it easier for homeowners to clear sidewalks with the snow?

Could be that.. I have also found they just randomly decided to enforce the parking laws every year or so.

At my place on Crescent one side of the street has no overnight parking, in 2 years I got 2 tickets for that.. a whooping 8 dollars..

How odd -- it will really narrow the street if everyone parks fully in the road. I wonder if someone was like totally obstructing the sidewalk which prompted a complaint.

Could be worse than 15 -- once I parked in cambridge with the front of my car just barely hanging into a cross walk and got a 60 dollar ticket for obstructing a handicap access. Which makes me sound like some kind of asshole who throws people out of thier wheelchairs. The city of cambridge has really mastered the concept of shame ticketing -- when they boot they give you a ticket the size of an 8 1/2 by 11 piece of paper, but that is another story.

No overnight parking this year in Watertown, Waltham may fall next.

Thankfully my new place is on a private way and they can't legally ticket. The best of both worlds, trash pickup and plowing but no enforcement. People park on the sidewalk there all the time. And they can't enforce the overnight ban.

Parking bans

Watertown has had a winter overnight parking ban for years. Waltham instituted one last year, but only on certain streets (since ours has overnight parking specifically allowed and its posted, we're exempt) :)

Of course, all of that is moot in a snow emergency. I'm glad we have a driveway (in buying a place, it was something we wouldn't give on).

In Wakefield, as of Dec. 1 there is no on street parking at night, we'll be juggling our five cars all winter long. Ugh.

It's weird to me to even think about parking on the sidewalk, despite your local sidewalks not having a curb, so to speak. We lack curbage in front of my building in places, and it's quite easy to park up on the city grass. Except for one year when a resident took to GLUEING "Don't Park On My Effing Lawn!" to car windshields. Let's not mention the fact that our actual lawn is five feet away.

I'd have more problems than parking on the sidewalk - there being a big "NO PARKING" sign and a bus stop there. *LOL*

We all need hover cars. One I can tether to my balcony.
