food, buttons and porn
Tuscan Grille was so good! I had a goat cheese and cranberry salad and Brian tried one of their bean soups. For the main course I had gnocchi with lobster and Brian tried the bacon wrapped pork roast. Dessert was a rich fudge chocolate bread pudding with white chocolate sauce and tiramisu. The place was definitely nice in terms of flavor, ambiance and service. Get there early or make reservations - we showed up at 6:00 on a Monday and sat right down, but the place had a line out front by 7:30.
There was an article in yesterday's local paper about this place http://www.buttonboxquiltshop.com/ . Its on the street we used to live on in Wellesley! One of the owners worked at the Windsor Button shop in Framingham's old Shopper's World, moved to their store in Newton (I didn't even know there was one there), and when that store closed out she bought their inventory and opened this place (first in Needham, now its moved to Wellesley). I used to love looking at the mass of buttons in the Shoppers Worlds store, and I remember my Mom going in there quite often (they used to have more sewing things, if I recall). I'm not a quilter, but I definitely want to check this place out at some point. I know the Windsor Button in Boston is one of the only places you can buy good steel boning, so I'm curious if this shop carries it too (much easier driving over there than downtown crossing for me).
I can't remember the title, but there is a high budget porn movie based on Pirate's of the Caribbean. We finally watched it last night, after being reminded about it when walking past Lifestyles on Moody and seeing a poster down in the store for it (yes friends, we now own 2 pirate porns). It was a riot! Its definitely high budget, and they follow the movie theme - sort of - in an obviously campy way. In one scene two women are having sex in a bachelor party type setting, as a captain and his mates sit around at a pub and watch. They keep cheering "R" and "God save the wenches" and "I love being a pirate" and things of that like. After each chorus of "RRRRRRRRRRR" one guy keeps yelling "LLLLLLLLLLL". So funny! Its neat to see people making fun of what they are doing, and acknowledging the cheese. The most annoying historical inaccuracy of this movie? The shoes! The women were wearing Victorian granny boots or espadrille sandals - what's with that?! At least they didn't have backwards corsets like that Andrew Blake movie from the first porn-b-que! One of the characters is also massively tattoed, having one complete sleeve, the start of another one, and a lot of ink around her abdomen and lower back. Its definitely not something you see too often in these movies.

Actually, that means we have 3. The one you gave us on VHS didn't work in our VCR, crap quality or something. We still have it, but never watched it. The one I was thinking of we had ripped from DVD, and was the same that we rented for our pirate party in Framingham - the one with Jenna Jamison.

Janine also did a "home movie" with Vince Neil. The only b/g "scenes" she did until she recently came out of retirement and dove headlong into it.
