And here we go again . . .
The start of another week - I'm hoping to recover a bit from the crazy weekend of strippers, GWAR and stitch-n-bitch :)
I signed up for the Self Challenge today to help and motivate myself and track workouts ( http://www.self.com/challenge/ ). I'm excited about it, I think the goals are pretty realistic. I need to pick up some kind of calorie counter book either during lunch or after work to help make sure I'm eating right, does anyone have any suggestions of good ones? The thing that stinks about this site is that the section for adding your snail mail address isn't secure and you need to complete that to win prizes (ah well, I'm not doing it for the prizes anyway - I'm doing it for me).
I'm debating going to Ceremony tonight since Ash will be DJing early and Lady B/Addam later in the evening. I wonder if I'll be able to get a chunk of homework finished (I hate doing it at the last minute) because I NEED to go out dancing, its been a while :)

On a complete tangent, we've noticed our cat Max is drinking A LOT more water than usual (we figured this out from the increased amount of pee in his litterbox). It seems to have slowed down a bit (there wasn't as much in the box in the last 2 days as there had been over a two day period last week) so I think I'm going to wait until later in the week to call the vet. Have any of you pet owners experienced this before? He's had a UTI before and he didn't react this way to it - he's an old kitty (16 years, God I didn't realized we got him so long ago) so now is the time to look out for little changes in eating or drinking patterns.
In trying to find his adoption papers last night to figure out exactly how old he was I looked through a couple of boxes of old papers and mementos; I keep many things but am compulsively organized about it so its usually easy for me to put my hands on things. While going through the documents I found such gems as pages from an old diary from Junior High and High School, an old poem I wrote for my dance teacher for her 50th anniversary of teaching and some newspapers that I had written articles in from College. Amongst the pile of college stuff were some schmoopy things that I had kept from B when we were first dating (like e-mails that he sent from his old friend Ardyth's Northeastern Account to my old Simmons vax account and a story he wrote for me for Valentine's Day on the computer complete with little drawn up Dancers and Buniculas).
I'm glad I found those things last night - its nice to look at them every once in a while and remember our humble beginnings. I just can't believe its been so long and we've come so far.
What's your favorite sappy (and silly) memento from relationships either past or present?

Mine is a gold braclet from my first love back in 1991-92. Has a sappy I love you message engraved on it too. Don't think I could ever have the heart to get rid of it.

As for my favorite memento, I have a necklace that Jared gave me (that says SPIKE, his nickname). It's a long sob story about why it means so much, but it was an indication that I took the top spot over his long-ago love.
Ah,
I'm hoping this self challenge will motivate me to follow through with things I've been slacking on, I've had a subscription to the magazine for a couple of years and each year say I'm going to do the challenge but never follow through - so I am this year, dammit! :)

hey!
As for sentimental gifts from old boyfriends...there's so many. I have a jar of acorns. When I first started dating my ex, J, we only had a week left of college before going home for the summer and each day he'd bring me an acorn. I saved them as that was our first week together. And now they sit in a jar with a red ribbon around it. It makes no sense, but it did at the time.

I think my favorite sappy memento was the first email I sent to an someone when I was in college. I had completely forgotten about it but she sent it back a few years later when we where having some weirdness as part of a long sentimental email. This kinda blew me away because it was very much not like her to do stuff like that.

As far as favored mementos. I've got a hand written note framed on my living room wall, written by me at 4 years old to Santa which reads "Dear Santa, Please bring me Big Girl Lipstick. Love, Jeanie" Where the S in lipstick and Santa are backwards. It's got a note written by my mother saying something like "thank you for the milk and cookies, love Santa"
My parents must have sent it to my grandparents years ago and they framed it and sent it back to me as a birthday gift a couple of years after my mother died.
RE your note to Santa
