Woah

Benazair Bhutto is dead http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7161590.stm .

I've been reading http://www.amazon.com/Babylon-Bus-valuable-franchise-adventure/dp/1594200912 lately and have about 20 pages left. A HS friend of mine leant it to me - she was friends with the authors back in the old Boston hardcore days. Its not the most well written thing in the world, but hearing of their firsthand experiences in Iraq has been unsettling.

Whatever shitstorms are hitting folks over here, we are very VERY fortunate.

Is it worrisome that the first thing I thought was "I really hope my country had nothing to do with Bhutto's assignation." ? I mean we do have a history of propping up dictators who go along with our policies.

OTOH, she did have a lot of enemies.

Does anybody actually have any real hopes for peace in any Muslim/Islamic ruled country, anymore? There's a level of ingrained fanaticism that will never die. And anyone who tries to make chance is destined to be assassinated.

For an atheist like me, murder in the name of religion from 600 B.C. is THE most terrifying and insane thing in the world.
