Sith Charity Ball and Raffle

Hey Folks! Please find information on the Friday night Sith Charity Ball at http://2008.arisia.org/SithBall . There will be lots of cool things to see on opening night - we hope to see you there!

There will be raffle tickets for sale at the ball and at the 501st/Rebel Legion fan table on Saturday - all proceeds benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. Our drawing will be held at the 3:00 PM Fandom and Charity panel on Saturday (you do not need to be present to win - prizes will be claimed in the Ops office). Tickets will be 2/$5 except for some very cool special prizes which will have their own drawings (tickets for those prizes are $5 each). The list of prizes is quite impressive and is growing! You can view it here:

Do you guys think you'd want that set of ESB BK cups for this? Or is it not worth it? I probably could come up with a few other items, books and such from the era that are in more than decent condition.

If not it's OK - eventually they will find new homes *grins* I only have one full set, but Ebay may prove useful to make more!

What's a full set (how many)?

I'm sure folks would like them, but I don't know when I'd get them from you. I was trying to tie this stuff up over the weekend. It may be easier for you to just put them up on ebay (and, better for you). I know we'll do well with the raffle given the higher profile items (like the Sox tickets) so I'm not worried about drawing more interest at this point. :)

Hehehe - Ebay is a bust. There's so many of them it's not funny. That's why I think I might troll around for the one that'll complete more sets. I have about 6 of each of the others. Just one of number 4 I think. Probably the one with Han on it. *grumbles*

A full set is four, as far as I know. They're in great condition, not used, although I will wash them.

I'd be happy to drop them by, um, Saturday early evening?, even if I'm just dropping them off in a bag on the porch. We have a Black Sun planning thing going on during the day (at Tammy's actually) so after that, if that'll work for you.

If you could leave the set in a bag on my back porch that would be AWESOME! Thanks :)

We will be away next weekend, but could I give you $20 for raffle tickets? I figure it's a donation, so if you don't want to raffle on our behalf, that's cool...

If you want to make a donation that's cool! Unfortunately I'm asking folks to buy tickets only if they are at the con (to actually claim their prize). I know I'll be too busy pulling 40+ names from a hat in a 10 minute period at a panel to keep track of other people's raffle tickets. Now, if you knew someone else who was going who could buy your tickets and keep track of them for you, there's nothing to prevent that. :) I know that Brian and I and the other 501sters will be crazy running around to take care of it.

Cool - I'll give you a donation Friday night. I was also thinking of offering a pet portrait package ($250 value) for the raffle, but looking at the list, I don't think I fit with all the coolness there! Everything seems just so geeky! LOL...

I think the pet portrait package sounds awesome! We should talk about this more Friday (perhaps do it as one of the special/targeted raffle pulls so that only folks with pets would enter)? Thanks!

"Raffle prizes to be given out during the Ball."

That's a rather misleading link. That will probably lead people to think that they could be getting raffle prizes for attending the ball. We aren't pulling raffle winners until Saturday evening, right?

That's at the bottom of the Sith Ball page, btw.

Thanks for catching that! The link was added later on and I think the person that added it wasn't sure what was going on. The subsequent page has the info correct (I just e-mailed the con chair about fixing it).

You're welcome!

I haven't noticed any mention of how we're selling tickets Friday night. Is another fan group or the Arisia staff handling that?

I'm going to figure that out on Friday. We'll be collecting for photos with Jabba too, so I'm figuring we'll have a small table at the corner of the stage in the ballroom to do all of that.

Whoever is at the fan table on Saturday will be selling them.

More details on the forums :)

What? Dancer waiting until the last minute for something? *shocked*

I've been following the threads on the forums through the daily digests. I just haven't been signing in to comment.

I'm happy to help you out with ticket sales on Friday night, provided it's somewhat organized and I don't have to go person to person. :) I don't have any money or cool toys to donate, but I can at least volunteer my time. (And I tend to prefer being a wallflower at dances anyway!)

No, its more of an issue of few people jumping up to commit to particular things at Arisia so I'm preparing mentally for the worst (doing it all myself) and hoping for the best (that there will be plenty of folks who I can grab in the moment). I know there will be bodies there, so I'll bring a table, a chair, the raffle book, tickets and envelopes (for cash and deposited tickets) and it should be pretty easy for anyone to just sit there and follow.

Now how we're doing the drawing/rewarding, that is something that's all neatly and anally planned already. Its all about simplifying and trying to make everyone's lives easier. :)
