ReStore

Stores from Habitat for Humanity, donated leftover building supplies:

Very neat! There's only one in MA (Carver), none in NH, and a couple in RI and CT, but its still a very cool concept (and if you're doing a ton of work on your house perhaps worth the drive)?

similarly, the city of boston has a Building Materials Resource Center where you can both donate (see guidelines) and purchase materials. if you can show economic need, you get an even further discount.

in addition looks like they've also set up a co-op for additional (new) building supplies.

again, anyone can join.

the husband of one of the women i used to work with is on the board and she's said it's a fantastic resource.

ooh, what a great idea. Too bad I'm not building/restoring anything yet. But if/when I do, I hope this still exists a few years down the road. Thanks for alerting us!

I live right next door to a ReStore. :) A lot of nice stuff for low cost and for a good cause. :)
