NH Highland Games

We were in the White Mountains of NH this past weekend for http://www.nhscot.org/. The weather was perfect and the company was fun. We only had passes for the games on Saturday, which I think was a perfect amount of time. We were able to see the athletics, pipers, dancers and musicians, eat the food, peruse the wares and generally just have fun with the folks in plaid. The best analogy we could come up with was ala Dragoncon - early in the experience you are excited to see kilts everywhere, then it's kind of the norm by the end of the weekend and it is strange not seeing folks in their costume.
These guys http://www.redhotchillipipers.co.uk/ were a lot of fun. I'm glad we were able to catch them during the day, because we didn't want to spend the extra cash for their evening concert.
We got in our usual Conway/North Conway walking and shopping on Friday (the worst of the days weatherwise) and did a bit of minor hiking and country exploring on Sunday before heading home. I am so glad that we decided to forgo camping. It was fun staying at http://www.beaconresort.com/ again, and we truly enjoyed their large indoor hot tub and pool.
