We've been working on finding homes for things in the craft room. Here is our new "desk" in the corner of the bedroom: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dancerjodi/5946146042/

To the right of our closet (that we built, because we didn't have one) there was some space left since there is a steam radiator along the wall, under the window. In that space has been my antique vanity chair (it won't fit anywhere else) and the decorative pillows for our bed sit on that when they aren't on the bed.

Now *above* those things are 3 shelves housing our printer, stationary and 501st collectibles (patches, pins, cards, celebrity autographs). All in the studs that we know are there, since we built the closet.

It was a good opportunity to make another bag full of 'things to donate'. In another time I thought I'd get into scrapbooking, making my own greeting cards and that kind of thing. I know I just don't have time or enough interest to do this, and so those goodies are going to my favorite thrift store.

Next up is re-working our setup for sewing/crafting. This requires bringing a ton of seldom-used things up into the attic, and some things that need to be trashed or donated down from the attic so that it doesn't become a catch-all clutter space. I'm procrastinating, because it is 200 degrees up there this time of year. :)

In big house news, our home is getting checked for lead paint tomorrow afternoon. Crossing fingers that the findings won't be too bad. We're assuming that they'll find it and that we'll have to live somewhere else while the work is done. Anyone have a spare bedroom and want 2 adults, 2 cats and 2 rabbits to keep you company for a week? We have a possible empty apartment option that Brian has to look into, but if that falls through it would be wonderful not to have to rent a hotel for a week. :)

did you ever see the movie Raising Helen (stars Kate Hudson.) there's a point where she's taking her nieces/nephew to look for housing. they get to a run-down apartment. the other neat-freak sister is spazzing about it...

the line is something like, "omg. what if this is lead paint! Kids, no chewing on the window sills."

;)

good luck finding temp housing for yourselves!

We have a sofa sleeper in the front room you could crash on, though your privacy would be limited since we removed the door. It also gets really bright in there in the mornings with the southern exposure and cheap blinds. I'm not sure how your cats would get along with mine though. I think Zane and Cody would both be fine with it, but I don't know how Jayne and Mal would be.

Good luck on the lead paint. I assume being in the Greater Boston Area, you will find it. But I've heard of people getting away with only stripping the surfaces that a child could actually put their mouth on (so not worrying about ceilings)

If you don't mind coming all the way to Carlisle and spending a little money, I can ask my mom how much she would rent her empty 1 bedroom apartment for and if she would mind. I don't think she'd mind the animals.

We have a small spare bedroom with a queen sized bed in it that you are welcome to use, but no cats here due to allergies and a big dog!
