Weekend

It was a nice, chill weekend. We stayed in on Friday after getting dinner at http://vecchia-roma.com/. We finally, finally watched Wall-E (which we have had sitting in a Netflix envelope for months). So good, I can't believe we waited so long.

On Saturday we got up and went to http://in-a-pickle.com/ for breakfast before the rush, picked up our meat csa http://www.chestnutfarms.org/ share, dropped it at home and headed out to a friend's to help lug a ton of stuff into a dumpster. 4 of us half-filled a 50 yard dumpster in a few hours, crazy! Unfortunately one of the guys was injured in the process and we took off so that our friend could take him to the ER to get some stitches. We had a great lunch at a greek pizza/sub place down the street, where the owner came out from behind the counter and asked us if we wanted some free japanese plums - so good! We were just beat from the morning, so after a shower we stayed horizontal pretty much for the rest of the day. We caught up with Torchwood (OMG!) and I read some more of http://www.npr.org/2011/07/14/137095494/in-saints-a-straight-edge-coming-of-age (so good! The author got so many details in here that you would have thought she was actually in the scene, which I don't believe she was). I cannot believe how beat I was, I'm blaming the heat. I have been good about pacing myself and drinking water and everything, careful not to overdo it with exercise. I can't blame my dianoga because Brian was in a similar state. We had grand plans of going to visit friends after a troop at some bar in Lowell, but we just weren't feeling like driving out there.

The lazy/tired prevailed this weekend and we went out for food yet again, deciding to check out our favorite local Thai place that was now under new management. http://erawansiam.com/ has been our go-to place for Thai food near home. I love their hot and sour soup and crave it when my head is stuffy. They had a spicy Pad Thai (Pad Thai country) that was just awesome. The place was rearranged and looked brighter, cleaner and more crowded since it's been under new management, so we were curious to try it. The soups were OK but the hot and sour was not so hot anymore, more sweet. It was good but not as good as the stuff at Tom Can Cook (strike 1). They don't have anything like the Pad Thai Country anymore (strike 2), but I ordered some drunken noodles that seemed like they'd fit the bill: noodles, veggies, spicy and with shrimp. Our food didn't come for a half hour until after the soop was done (strike 3)! The people who came in after us and were sitting behind me all got their dinners and we were just sitting! Brian waved at the waitress to inquire, thinking maybe they forgot us, and she nodded and acknowledged him, but never actually came by to see what he wanted (strike 4)! Eventually we got our food and the flavor was good, but the veggies in my dish were nonexistant! A tiny bit of shaved carrots, a 1/4 of a pepper sliced up. WTF (strike 5!) We overheard the guy behind us asking about the lack of veggies in his dish, and the waitress told him he'd need to order another meal if he wanted more veggies. We ate our food in sort of shock - our favorite Thai place no longer an option for us. With all of the options on Moody street why go here? They left our bill for us soon after we got our meals, not even asking if we wanted dessert or drinks or anything (strike 6). So sad, I miss the old Erawan of Siam. I want to say that Tom Can Cook was owned by the same people that used to own Erawan of Siam, so they'll be our choice from now on (though, there is a small Vietnamese/Thai place that just opened that we need to try).

Yesterday we were planning on going to the aquarium but with the crappy weather, we thought it would not be a fun day to go galivanting around Boston. It was perfect, because Brian slept late and I got a ton done around the house in the morning. I read some more and we headed out after lunch to visit Mom and Dad before running errands and finally cooking some meals at home (tacos!). I'm about 80% done with my book and can't wait to see how it ends, so good! Back to the grind and all of that.
