Pillows

I'm nearing 20 weeks where I'm not supposed to sleep on my back anymore. It can put pressure on a particular nerve and make me pass out, so I need to get in the habit of side-sleeping.

I do have a good side-sleeper pillow that I have yet to switch out with my back sleeper. Though, I did buy one of those pregnancy body pillows too http://shopboppy.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=15. It's kind of like a big c-shaped pillow to support your head, belly, and go between your knees to properly align your hips.

Since I'm a ballet dancer posture is important to me. As is sleep. As is trying to minimize pain as much as possible.

The problem is, my freaking shoulder hurts the way I sleep on this! I can't get my arm/shoulder in a good position.

I'll keep plugging along. If this is the worst of my complaints right now I'm doing pretty good.

Less than a week from today, of baby is cooperating with its position we will know if we are having a girl or a boy. Nutso!

This reminds me, I'd been meaning to tell you that at my pilates studio, they have special back cushions for pregnant women to use. A woman in my barre class has been using one. Just FYI...

I loved that pregnancy Boppy. It was like a third partner in our bed. ;)

As an avid side sleeper I can tell you that it's known as "my boyfriend" in bed. Especially when it's in the UK and it is between me and my actual boyfriend. (I might not get it back, M has taken to cuddling with it and likes it a LOT! heheheh)

Mine's not curled, I don't need that kind of support, but it does do wonders. I'm not actually sleeping directly on my side - the bottom end goes between my legs and curls up under my belly to support it. So I'm not leaning on it at all. (Fat girls need support too!)

I also tend to keep more pillows around. Sometimes I tuck one under the top end of the body pillow, to prop it and me up some, so I don't have shoulder/arm issues. I wonder if that would help you - put a little twist into your top half so you're less lying on your shoulder but more being supported by the pillows. Watch out for dead arm too - that happens when I DON'T support myself enough. Maybe check out some of the side sleeper pillows for under your head as well, there's a hair more support in mine for my neck.

All this can kick a lesser man out of bed. :) M has a huge bed so even when we both sprawl, we have plenty of room. Even if both of us end up with boyfriends in the bed. :P

Maybe get a small memory foam, sobakowa, or boomerang pillow to give your shoulder some padding?

i have (had?) a long body pillow with a fleece pillow case.

my cat stole it. if there's a speck of room that i'm not covering, she's on it. she sleeps on it all day. if i try to squeeze onto it after she's already on it, i get a dirty look. :P

but it's super comfy. it's just a big long rectangle body pillow i got at Target.

link to the faux fur cover that Gabby STOLE. i gotta admit a black cat sprawled out on a huge white fur pillow is pretty cute. annoying, but cute. ;)
