Dance Feevah!
Jan. 20th, 2002 06:43 pmI started rehearsal today for the Dance Theater alum performance (to see pictures of me from the show in HS go here: http://www.diabolis.net/~dancer/DancePix.htm ).
Its quite a change from the Christmas show, though the choreography is from two women from the same studio that did "Christmastime". As usual, a bunch of the people that showed up for the dance (there were over 50 of us in all) knew the routine already because they take at that studio. It was so nice to see Deb again (the woman that conceived the idea of Dance Theater 17 years ago). She squealed "Oh Jode!!!!!" and ran over to give me a big hug. She looks the same as she did when I graduated almost 10 years ago - I hope that if I stick to dancing I'll be timeless like all of the teachers that I've met over the years!
We'll be performing to a song from http://www.publictheater.org/noisefunk/home.html only its performed by NSync (ew)! Since I only have 3 practices to learn this routine before the dress rehearsal (the shows are on February 7th and 8th) I need some serious at-home practice time - which meant that I had to do something fairly disgusting this afternoon and buy an NSync Cd! B asked me if it would be OK if he stayed in the car due to his embarrassment.
So if you'd like to see me shake my butt with 50 other people in one dance number, let me know and I'll give you ticket info. The show is really entertaining if you like dance (its just 25 dance numbers of all types of dance styles and music performed by some pretty talented HS students and the alums).
The best thing of all is the neato "DT Alums, 2002" shirt that I'll get which I can wear for many years to come (I'll add it to the hat and windbreaker I have from the shows in 92 and 93). And I'll finally have an excuse to buy some of those jazz boots that I've been meaning to try out ever since they first made them.
Oh yeah - and a random tangent, my MOM went to Punk Rock Aerobics with me yesterday!
