Its Friday (finally), the day that all things are right. The day that I splurge on a bagel in the cafe for breakfast and get to hear old classic tunes (good ole Bing was crooning down there this morning).

Yesterday was really productive and it made me relax a bit about scheduling my life. I stopped at my parent's house after work to pick up my Mom's new monster vaccum cleaner (I think the thing weighs more than me, and it actually has a red button that lights up when its sucking up dirt!). We do have a really neat one (an http://www.oreck.com/oreck/home.cfm which we've even used to clean up fake snow at ManRay with after "Blizzard in Hell", or something like that) but it needs to be serviced. I was able to clean the whole house last night (!) except for the kitchen; I'll deal with that on Saturday when I'm in the process of cooking.

And I even got some homework done too! In addition to regular homework and needing to interview 3 alumns I need to work on a group project for a survey on Internet Addiction. Right now we're just doing online research, trying to develop some items for a questionaire.

I just have to tell you all how much I love bunnies, they are so cute! After cleaning everything and getting some homework in I sat down in the Den to watch TV for 1/2 hour before falling into bed. We let the buns out of their condo to run around and to enjoy the baby carrots we brought in. Batty is so cute; he keeps grabbing the carrots, running into the condo, running up the ramp to the 2nd level with them and when he puts the thing down to start eating it rolls down the ramp. Lather, rinse, repeat :) I just don't understand how an animal can be so cute (besided our cat, of course). Its overwhelming!

When I went to pick up that vaccum at my parent's I went up to my sister's apartment to say hi to her and my nephew and meet the new addition to their family - 2 bunnies. So that makes a big fluffy cat, 3 fish, 2 birds and 2 bunnies for one 5 year old kid! There were some serious issues with the lagamorph situation however that I'm hoping to help remedy on Sunday:
-They are living in my nephew's bedroom with the birds who make shrieking noises and scare the crap out of them (the male is totally freaked out; after gently trying to coax him out of the little box in the corner of the cage for 5 minutes I reached my hand into the cage a teeny bit and he tried to bite me). I told her it would probably be a good idea to move either them or the birds to another room - she's going to move the birds.
-Their cage is cool (its one my brother build) but its WAY too small for two bunnies. I'm bringing over our old cage that Flopsy (RIP) lived in before we built our first bunny condo. That way they'll have room to run around in the cage when they can't come out during the day.
-They had no hay! Bunnies are supposed to have hay available to them all of the time (to help with digestion and keep their girlish figures).
-There was WAY too much food in the cage for too bunnies. Learning the hard way how difficult overweight rabbits can be (we needed to clean Flopsy's butt for him because he was too fat that he couldn't reach for a while there). They had enough food in that bowl to feed my 2 bunnies for a week.
-I'm not sure if there was any wood in there for them to chew on either, now that I'm thinking of it.

So on Sunday when I bring the vaccum back I bring with me:
-A large cage
-Some timothy hay
-Some wood shingles
-My House Rabbit Handbook for my sister to flip through.

I am happy to see however that they didn't have pine shavings in their litter box (they did have them in the bottom of the cage though; I think we may need to remedy that - our vet said that those shavings not even in Flopsy's litter box but under his drop tray could have caused the kidney infection that killed him).

Poor little guy, I miss our Floopy-Man :(

Heh, OK, so that was tangential!

Bats!

My co-worker has a desk calender by Dave Barry (I'm not really sure who this guy is, but he's really funny).

She came by and gave me the page from today since she knew that I liked bats:

"There has never been a TV series where the animal hero was a bat. Why not? Why couldn't Lassie have been a bat? There could have been an episode wherein Lassie and her young master, Timmy, are frolicking around the farm, with Lassie playfully catching insects for Timmy via sonar, when suddenly Timmy is caught in the quicksand! So Lassie flits as fast as she can back to the farmhouse, where she squeaks and hurls her tiny self against the screen door until Timmy's family, realizing that something is wrong, comes running outside and kills Lassie with a rake, because people generally hate bats. Plus they are getting sick and tired of Timmy falling into the quicksand every other week."

Oh neat!

Lots of good (and free) things to do on Monday. I'm pondering some of these or heading out to cheer on those fabulous women running the 10K (I was a slacker and again, didn't register for this year):
