I was planning on taking my journal articles for a walk down to the library today in the town center to check the place out and lock myself into productive atmosphere. I went to the http://www.framingham.com website to find the link to the library only to find that they are closed today. I've got lots of time anyway - perhaps B and I will just go for a walk around the downtown area to make a mental list of places we'd like to check out later.

I'm starting to get into the history of the area. Growing up in a very historically rich city (pretty much, where the Industrial Revolution of this country started, http://www.walthammuseum.com/) the history of my community has always been important. This kick got re-started this morning when our town was mentioned in a book I'm reading for school about research methods (the particular chapter was talking about the birth and growth of longitudinal studies). In our good ole town we had the first longitudinal study on heat disease and apparently its still going on: http://www.ama-assn.org/sci-pubs/amnews/pick_02/hlsa0218.htm .

The first woman to get a US patent also lived here. Here house was SO pretty: http://www.framingham.com/history/photos/currycot.htm

And of course, we can't forget Crispus Attucks: http://www.framingham.com/history/profiles/crispus/index.htm

Another random note - I guess we are the largest town in the country too: (about 3/4 of the way down http://www.framingham.k12.ma.us/about.html )

OK, enough of procrastination. Now to print out some e-mails from classmates and do some reading for a group project!
