Someone asked why I wanted to move (having not caught it here before). In the last week we've had not one , but two stabbings a couple of blocks from our house.
This happens everywhere. It happens pretty often in our neighborhood though I stopped posting about it because really, what's another stabbing or shooting in the neighborhood? It doesn't scare me to live in my house (I've lived in unsavory places before). It does make our hood a less pleasant area to live in in that "I don't have to live like this" sort of way. Brian has commented like its kind of like living in Everett again (that being an area we avoided buying a house in very specifically two years ago, despite how cheap they were). Add to that the fact that a lot of things we like in a city aren't here (shops that we'd go to, places to walk, decent school system, decent public transportation).
There you have it :)
(honestly, this isn't the only thing I think of either - its just on my mind lately given the circumstances)
