Its day 2 of my "lets unpack and get the house in order" vacation. The guys showed up to install the wall-to-wall carpet in the den promptly at 8:30 and were done by 10:00. I promptly moved a boom box in there to play some music, and then proceeded to move all of the components, speakers, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, vinyl and the media shelves in. Tonight we'll have some friends coming to help in getting the couch and entertainment center of doom in there (and the TV - it weighs more than my car, I think). Set up of everything will be done tonight and we'll be watching our first movie in there tomorrow night. Its a fitting beginning to the new home media room: BUBBA HOTEP!
Tomorrow I'll be priming and painting the upstairs bathroom - it will be a rich, dark purple to go with the Nightmare Before Christmas theme. I still need to pick up some kind of over the toilet storage cabinet . . . I think with it we will *just* fit the things in there that we need to. I also scored a tall pantry-style linen cabinet from my parents that they haven't been using. Its an oak finish and used to be in our upstairs bathroom (until my sister removed it because it "didn't go" with her decorative theme). It will sit in the corner in the craft room for us to store sheets and (hopefully) pillows in. Excess blankets go in the attic in rubbermaid bins - the lack of closets in this place has required me to go into "super organizational Jodi" mode. But its what I'm good at, so I'm getting some kind of sick satisfaction from it :)
At some point I need to get my car inspected - perhaps Thursday. I'll be going to meet up with Tiamatlady that afternoon for a manicure. I think they are going to scold me when they see the condition of my cuticles :) My vacation week will be ended with a birthday dinner for a friend (mmm, Indian food), a rockin good time with Sordidout at a Waltham (the band) show, our first attempt using our new grill, a housewarming party, and a possible Sunday shindig (not sure about that one yet). It will be weird going back to work . . .
