My Mom's uncle died on Thursday - we went to the wake yesterday afternoon and the funeral was this morning. I wasn't very close to him, and he was sick with Hospice (so this isn't unexpected). Still, its weird that the funny old guy that used to tease the kids at Christmas Eve by taking his teeth out and calling everyone "droopy drawers" is gone. He was a WW2 Veteran and his "Tin Can Man" cap was with him in the coffin (aparently he served on a destroyer). Here's the obit: http://www.dailynewstranscript.com/obituaries/view.bg?articleid=47511

My Dad's uncle also died. I wouldn't know him if I ran into him anywhere, and just remember Gram making reference to him. He also had a wake yesterday and a burial this morning. I can't even remember his name right now (Gram was one of 19, and I can't keep them all straight).

Gram herself is in the hospital. She was having problems breathing over the weekend and was taken to a local hospital near my aunt's place in Webster (where she was spending Christmas). They say her heart is OK, and she may have emphysema. Of course, my parents didn't tell me this (assuming I knew, somehow) and don't know/care about the details of the admission.

What, with it being freezing in here (my hands are like ice) and it being another short week (we're closed on Friday).

I had an idea. I'll use Gram's saving's bond $ to pay for our plane tickets to England. Dionysia sent me a link for www.1800flyeurope.com , and they seem to have tickets round trip for around $250! We need to pick a time, book the plane, and then get to finding a place(s) to say. We'll split our time between London and Scotland.

I must get off my butt and get a passport!

I bought Brian a Frommer's Scotland guide years ago, and now we'll finally use it. We began planning a trip last year and the lack of time for planning (let alone trying to take the time to go there, and pay for ti) while in school turned me off from it. This year, rather than celebrating a significant wedding anniversary (last year it was #5) we'll celebrate 10 years (wow) of being together.
