You go girl!
Mar. 18th, 2005 10:31 amFrom an alum newsletter:
Dear alumnae,
The benefits of attending a women's college, and the ability for young women to
flourish in that environment, is something that we at Simmons have been proponents of since our founding in 1899. And it is very much a part of our College strategy today - to position Simmons as an authority on women, education for the professions, leadership, and diversity.
As many of you know, the issue of women's aptitude in the scientific and technical arenas has been the topic of much media attention over the last few months. In response, the Women's College Coalition has decided to place an ad in the March 20th edition of the New York Times, honoring the many graduates of women's colleges who have made major contributions in these areas. To see this ad, please copy and paste the following link into your browser:
http://www.alumnet.simmons.edu/olc/pub/SNS/cpages/news.jsp?chapter=137 or pick up a copy of this Sunday's New York Times.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic, or your personal stories of
Simmons graduates whose contributions have made or are making a difference in the world of math and science.

Way to go Lawrence Summers for indirectly promoting women's colleges! :)
