Snow!

We shoveled about a foot of snow around the house this morning, and walked over to my parents' place for breakfast. After a few hours of visiting we walked back in the typhoon of snow - it was difficult to see the cars coming towards us as we walked in the street (few if any sidewalks were cleared). We decided to come in and get warm and wait to shovel until the snow is finished, because you'd never tell we had cleared a foot this morning. At least the stuff is light!

Last night was fun, and we learned that Jake and Earl's is very accommodating with large groups (around 20) that stay there for 3+ hours. Our bill came to $501.03 too (so funny!). We ended up with a 9 person Apples to Apples game at the end of the night which I think has been the largest group I may have played with. Also, I learned that the Italian/French bakery in Nonantum (see top listing here http://www.bostonphoenix.com/supplements/the_best/05/edfood.asp ) has very yummy valentine's day cakes (that they so kindly wrote "Happy Birthday Brian" on, given the last minuteness of it all). I've picked up pastries there before, but this was my first cake. There were so many tempting things there to choose from!

I'm off to do some productive and other unproductive things around the house. One thing the snow is good for I guess, is forcing some of us to slow down, stay in and connect with our homes and our selves!
