Mal took his collar off last night somehow! We left him at around 9:00 to see Snakes on a Plane (SO GOOD), visited briefly before bed at around midnight, and by 7:00 AM he had taken the thing off. He's very clean and soft now, and all of the bits of lint that were stuck into his old scabs on his belly are gone. The staples are all accounted for though, and it didn't like he tried to pull them out.

2 more days and he can take the thing off officially. I'll feel so much better. Brian put up a shelf on the window sill yesterday so he could get some air and look outside. Poor guy!

Trooping yesterday was so sweet - I almost cried! The leading trooper (X-Wing) did a little speech for the little boy about how he had come through tough times, showed how he was very brave, and would be welcomed into the Jedi Order. He was given his own light saber, and all of the Jedis circled him and lowered their sabers (just like Anakin's ceremony in the movie). So sweet! We hung around a while for pictures and food. I need to jump in the shower and head up to NH to help my sister unpack and organize her new house. Yay!

My sister's place is really nice! There are some decorative issues to work out, but she's got plenty of time to figure those things out. I'm so happy for them!

In house related news, I'm getting lazy. I worked a bit on polishing the brass drawer pulls for my bureau, and learned that one of the 10 wasn't brass - it was steel (and got all rusted soaking in its vinegar bath to free the initial tarnish). In addition, the part that the brass bails fit into also isn't brass - they are so rusted that they'd need some time with mild sandpaper before I continue polishing. As I already mentioned, I'm so mentally done with working on this bureau. I did some poking on e-bay and found some reproduction pulls for $3 each and ordered them. So they won't be original antique brass, but I won't have to spend hours working on them. I learned the style is chippendale:

So now the night is mine while Brian geeks. As with any free time, I'm not sure how to use it. I'm frustrated with my drawer pull experience today, so I'm not even going to try to continue sewing.
