I went to the new http://www.walthammuseum.com/ on the way from Ballet class. They were having a grand opening at the new site, and had a bunch of old, old cars out front to advertise. I learned a couple of new things - South Waltham was purchased from the city of Newton (who used to 'own' it) for $1,000. Also, in revolutionary war history you know the 'One if by land, Two if by sea' thing? Had it only been one, and had the British come by land the big battle could very well have been in Waltham given planned communication routes from Boston - who knew? I talked with the director for a bit about my family (all old Waltham folks know Gram's family; there were so many of them). He suggested I bring my family in there, and work on writing our own family history. I'm almost to the point of getting that Ancestry software. Stephen, I forget which one it was you suggested (of the two Mac ones I had asked about a while ago). And I need to get scanning old family photos, but I digress.

Brian got a haircut yesterday, and we found a perfect ratty old leather jacket at http://www.sisterthrift.com/ for him to cut up into Jayne pouches. There were much parties had - I forgot my camera!. Today we did some gardening (after a trip to some farm stands with Devina). Pics are here http://www.marmontianderson.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=19 . We're keeping the Euronomous after all, too much work to remove so we just trimmed it back (sorry A and L) and we planted the vinca minor (cute purple flowers) to cover the bulk of the front yard, in addition to filling some more plants in. Brian played in dirt for the first time ever, and put some strawberry plants into the ground. After shopping around we found the stuff we wanted the cheapest at Mahoney's (weird, because I expected to pay the most there).

My poor sister! It figures given her luck that on mother's day my nephew would (assumedly) break his wrist! He was playing in my yard on either the swing or hammock with my sister's BF, fell and landed in such a way that he was in a lot of pain, had the wind knocked out of him and has a very visably broken wrist or arm. We were just getting ready to sit down to dinner when it happened, and they had to pack him up with some ice for the Newton Wellesly ER. This kind of puts a damper on karate and soccer and the start of summer swimming - poor kid :(. We're still waiting to hear what's up (and hope she stops by on the way home to grab at least some leftovers from dinner - they haven't eaten anything and her BF's car is still out front anyway). Happy Mother's Day, indeed! My Mom enjoyed her gifts though, and Dad got me a card from the cats with a Dunkin Donuts gift cert in it, cute!

Happy Mother's Day to all of my friends that are Moms of all kids: human, furry or otherwise. :)
