I *heart* Ikea
May. 22nd, 2007 08:56 amWe've been meaning to take a trip for a while anyway, and this Tiki Den project pushed us over the edge. They didn't have anything specifically Tiki save for a couple of pieces of a patio set, but we did get some supplies to build with - a bunch of bamboo and a couple of straw mats for around $30 (much cheaper than one of those bamboo bars). We got some new steak knives too - pointy!
We're still not sure if we'll just build an entirely new radiator cover (our tiki 'bar') or build one that covers the current metal one that we can remove in the winter so as not to prevent the heat from spreading. Either way, Brian's going to have fun playing with this project. It will be a change from the Jayne guns.
Ikea now charges $.05 per each plastic bag that you have to take from them (I guess they've been doing this since March). We came prepared with one of our own cloth Hannaford Bags (those things are so cool - they fit a ton of stuff and fold up into a neat square that snaps together) but we didn't need it anyway, since everything fit inside of a wicker basket I bought to store our boardgames in in the living room. I'm starting to remember more often to actually use the cloth bags, which is a good thing (rather than forgetting about them in the trunk of my car).
Dance class tonight
The Pops with John Williams Tomorrow
Dinner with a friend Thursday
And the Weekend - whew! :)
