Now that our front door is all repainted I'm all excited about trying to find a winter wreath that we can re-use each year. I'm hoping for a funky retro foil one ala the 1950s or one from the era of our own childhoods - one of those melted popcorn plastic things. There are a ton of the latter up on ebay right now, but I'm keeping my eyes open for just the right one. I liked some of the ones that had glitter on them and I guess Brian was really partial to the Rudolph ones when he was a kid. Remember those things? I swear that all holiday decorations for kids of the 70s were melted popcorn plastic! Alternately I may just find one I absolutely love at Homegoods whenever I can get myself there - I haven't found one yet in similar stores while I've been perusing over the last couple of weeks. Since I got such a deal on the fall wreath I bought last week I'm holding out for something similar for the winter. I had pondered making one briefly, but for the cost of supplies (and my lack of skill with that particular kind of crafting) I think buying one off the shelf will be better.
Also related to winter, I'm pondering investing in some Shearling slippers (LL Bean in particular). I figure, keeping the heat down a bit this winter with rising energy costs wouldn't be a bad idea, and its really my hands and feet that have a difficult time when I'm inside. Typically I buy a new pair of slippers each winter end end up tossing them at the end of the season because they are all gross (and don't survive the washing). The LL Bean ones are more expensive but I figure they'll do me forever, and if they fall apart I can return them for new ones. Do you have favorite slippers?
