It has been a busy week. I'm trying to get a couple of huge projects done, while planning for things to happen while I'll be out on maternity leave. Despite my best efforts the last month I'm here will be crazy (as I should have expected). :)
Yesterday was our department holiday luncheon at http://www.horseshoegrille.com/ (which apparently many years ago was a biker bar). The food was good and the time was nice - I'd definitely go back here again if I happened to be in the area.
When I had gone out to my car at the office to leave for lunch it wouldn't start! I rode with a coworker to the restaurant and another took me back afterwards. It took AAA from 4:30 to 7:00 to actually show up to help me - jumping it with my coworker did nothing. Despite some freaky things going on, they managed to get the car going (the tow driver isn't sure what he did or why it worked) and suggested I get the battery checked out. I made it home and left it in the back of the driveway for Brian to deal with this morning. I wasn't going to get stuck again over 20 miles from home, so I took his truck to work today. He doesn't head into the office until around 10:00, it's only on the other side of the city and he has the flexibility of working from home sometimes, so I thought it was the best solution. The car thankfully started up for him this morning and he told me that they were replacing the battery at NTB, and would check the starter and alternator. The car is only a 2008 but has 84k on it. I hope that it was just the battery and not some weird electrical issue that caused some kind of damage to said battery. Time will tell I guess (hopefully before my warranty runs out on the car).
I'm looking forward to a calm night at home tonight with Brian. :) We shall have a busy but fun weekend! Have a good one folks.
