Here's an article about Premium Cinemas - they first opened when General Cinemas was still around (and as you may know, GC was then taken over by AMC): article

The Boston area theater is in Framingham, MA and is attached to the regular AMC. When it first opened I remember reading some article about it, and how there are only a handful of these in the country (and thought weird, why would they put this in the AMC in Framingham and not the one in Boston). You can find listings anywhere that regular movies are listed (usually I like Boston.com for this) but alas, usually they have movies that Brian and I don't really care to see.

We had meant to go a long time ago, but never actually saw a movie. The Framingham cinema, according to articles written a while ago (they referenced Jurassic Park....) had the most advanced sound system in the area. I am not sure if that is still true, but the sound there is pretty good. They just don't have the stadium seating.

I think the premium concept is cool, but I wonder if the experience is really THAT enhanced...

I guess I figure, its only costs $7 more than a regular movie and we get comfy seats, individual tables, coat check, assigned seating (no need to scope out where to sit) and free popcorn and soda (the latter two would probably cost more than $7).

They *do* have stadium seating there in most of their theaters BTW. :) I'm not a geek so I don't remember what kind of sound system it is they have in there, but I've been told that its "the best around" and that there are only a couple other of MA theaters that have it (the whole theater in general, not just the Premium).

I just wanted to try it once. I won't be going again unless its a movie I actively want to see, and if I'm planning on spending the cash on a drink and popcorn anyway. Since its 21+ it would be great for a movie that would have a lot of kids in it that one wanted to avoid (an old co-worker of mine saw Harry Potter there on opening night for instance).
