For a wardrobe I'd check yard sales and if that fails maybe go the unfinished route and finish it yourself (a lot cheaper than buying a fully finished one).
We have a small dining room set that we were planning on selling at a yard sale this spring/summer. It's not beautiful (to me anyway), but it's solid and in good shape. The table has folding leaves that when down make the table quite small and when up it can just fit seats. It has matching chairs (4) and a bench that seats 2. It's a dark wood. You'd probably want to recover the chairs as they are currently covered in green vinyl (ugly but indestructable).
