ME dance politics

"What do you mean about politics? Is it that particular troupe, or all of them? Is it the sort of competition among teachers and performers you mean? I'm not sure I've ever thought of my classes having politics, but I have heard sort of catty things said, and it made me uncomfortable."

I don't mean classes (I really like my teachers, since they tend to not get involved in those things). More the 'my style is good and yours is bad' stuff that will happen in any scene (say, the traditionalists vs the fusion people). Drama that's flared up about payment policies, venue support, and dual events on the same day on the local new england yahoo group (to name a few things).

It *is* a performing art, so all of these things are inevitable. The scale is so much larger in a scene though than in a small community studio. :)
