Our nephew really liked his HP scarf, books and owl. He also really liked his talking Vader helmet. And his General Grevious blaster that shoots silly string. And his Super Soakers. I think the theme of this year's gifts were "things that will annoy his Mom". Here are the pics that my brother took (he's the TK, by the way, bwahahaha - another Marmonti in the ranks of the NEG): http://eugenejames.net/pictures/501st/JDBday_071305/
We left the house to walk home, get the car and head to Target so that Brian could get more silly string cans for his own Grevious blaster . . . man those things go fast! Much good conversation ensued later in the night about life. Living in a place we like with people that actually give a damn about the community and doing various volunteer/charity things with the 501st has had great effects on the both on us. There's nothing more pure than the innocent excitement of a little kid at a birthday party or similar event. Its nice to be able to bring that out in people sometimes.

"and when did your sister cut her hair? (it looks good!)"
Earlier this summer. She tends to go back and forth with the length of it.
I got to meet her "friend" from work (heh) which was cool. :) I'm very happy for her!
Nephew and Sis
Date: 2005-07-14 04:24 pm (UTC)He's been consistently tall for his age (he was 24" long when he was born). He's going to be pretty tall as an adult. Its so bad, I commented on him running around with the Vader helmet, that as an adult he'd make a GREAT Vader (due to his height) :) He gets that from his Dad's side of the family somewhere supposedly.
My sister isn't too happy about 10 year old girls checking him out, however! :)
"I am loving C's 'do..."
Yep, it definitely works for her. I could never pull anything like that off, being much rounder in many ways than her :)

Date: 2005-07-16 06:46 pm (UTC)Its just the colors. I'm going to get some kind of Hogwart's patch for him when I'm at Dragoncon, because there will be tons of patch vendors there. I'm hoping to make him a robe for either Halloween (if he expresses interest) or for Xmas . . .
